Dyslexia@Work Event in European Parliament

EDA was delighted to co-host the final multiplier event of the Dyslexia@Work project with Alexis Georgoulis MEP in the European Parliament in Brussels on October 13. As well as the in person attendees, the event was livestreamed on Facebook to reach a wide audience.

We were honoured to have messages of support from President Roberta Metsola, Commissioner Helena Dalli and Vice President Pina Picierno. Mrs Themis Christophidou, Director General for Education and Culture also addressed the event in person.

Project partners then presented the results and outputs of the Dyslexia@Work project. Ruth Farrell (Malta) presented the comparative analysis of legislation, policy and practice related to dyslexia at work. Cristiano Termine (Italy) presented the research done with employers and recruiters across the project partner countries.  Audrey Mazur (France) then presented the manual and good practice guidelines for employers on dyslexia in the workplace. This was followed by a panel discussion sharing perspectives. Thanks to all the panellists for sharing their personal, organisational and national insights (Elio Benvenuti, Katell Datchary, Sue Flohr, Matthew Pullicino, Caoimhe Scolard, Ruth Falzon).

EDA was also delighted to introduce our new and upcoming projects. Rosie Bissett introduced delegates to the Neurodiversity at Work Erasmus project. Giannis Karagiannakis introduced a new EDA video project aiming to capture and share dyslexia experiences across Europe, and also announced that the next All European EDA Conference will be held in Athens on October 18-20, 2024.

Finally, President of AID, Andrea Novelli gave a closing address to the delegates, followed by closing remarks from Rosie Bissett, President of EDA and our co-host Alexis Georgoulis MEP.

EDA would like to thank all the Dyslexia@Work project partners, all the attendees (both in person and online) and most especially Alexis Geourgoulis MEP and his team (Eirini Polydorou, Pandora Dimanopoulou, Natascha Pentagioti) for making this event such a great success and bringing dyslexia to the heart of the European Parliament.
