The past year of the Covid pandemic has impacted on everyone and forced huge change in our education systems and workplaces. Long periods of remote and online learning led to new modes of educational delivery, changes in examination processes, increasing reliance on technology and the support available at home. However, the impact has been felt unequally. Individuals with dyslexia and other additional educational needs have lost access to some supports, and those without access to technology and broadband/wi-fi were further marginalized. Levels of anxiety have also impacted on wellbeing and motivation. Having passed the one-year anniversary of the Covid pandemic, now is the time to reflect on what we have learned – the challenges and inequalities that the pandemic has exposed, and the potential opportunities it has created in forcing changes to policy and practice.
Our 2021 Autumn Seminars will feature presentations on best practice, policy and science regarding dyslexia (reading and/or spelling disorder) and dyscalculia as well as opportunities to share practice and experiences across Europe and beyond.
Researchers are invited to submit a spoken research presentation, on the subject of dyslexia and dyscalculia related to theory as well as practice. We are especially keen to hear from researchers who have emerging work on the impact of the Covid pandemic on learners with special educational needs.
Your submission should consist of:
- Presentation Title (max 100 characters),
- Authors, Affiliation
- Purpose (max 500 characters),
- Method (max 500 characters),
- Results/conclusions (max 500 characters)
- Please include your contact details including email address and a phone number.
Each presentation will be allowed 20 minutes for their presentation and five minutes of Q&A. We will not accept any presentations trying to promote specific products, companies or services.
Please send your abstract to firstname.lastname@example.org
The deadline for submitting your contribution is May 14, 2021. You will be informed about the results of the review-process by early June, 2021.
If accepted, your submission details will be used to form an abstract for the conference programme.
If you have any questions regarding submitting, please contact email@example.com
Presenters will still need to register for the event, registration for which will open during April 2021.
