The European Dyslexia Association, in cooperation with the University of San Marino, are pleased to invite you to the coming EDA Summer Seminars which will be held from 18th to 20st of June 2015. The Summer Seminars purpose is to Exchange research, practice and experience. This years theme is:

 “Dyslexia in different perspectives”

Invitiation to the Summer Seminars

CONFIRMED KEYNOTE SPEAKERS: 

  • Professor Åke Olofsson, Umeå University (Sweden)
  • Professor Rod Nicolson, University of Sheffield (United Kingdom)
  • Professor John Stein, University of Oxford (United Kingdom)
  • Gerd Schulte-Körne, University of Munich (Germany)

Target group are researchers, professionals, educational experts, teachers, parents as well as individuals with learning difficulties. Aims are to forge closer contacts and communication, to share research information and good practices for DYS-students, to express DYS-experiences and bring forward any DYS-related problems (in early recognition, education, vocational life, profession, related legal issues and laws, etc.) in the countries of the participants.

PROFESSOR ÅKE OLOFSSON, UMEÅ UNIVERSITY (SWEDEN)

Åke Olofsson is a professor in psychology at Umeå University. His research areas are, among others, childrens phonological awareness in relation to their reading development, longitude studies of the relationship between language, cognition, reading- writing difficulties and dyslexia. He is also a board member of the Swedish Dyslexia foundation.

PROFESSOR ROD NICOLSON, UNIVERSITY OF SHEFFIELD (UNITED KINGDOM)

Professor Rod I Nicolson is a professor in psychology, Dean of the Faculty of Pure Science at the University of Sheffield since 2005, Executive Editor of Dyslexia and an active researcher. His research interests are in dyslexia and developmental learning disabilities. He has published over 100 articles, book chapters and software systems.

PROFESSOR JOHN STEIN, UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD (UNITED KINGDOM)

 John Frederick Stein PhD CBiol FIBiol FRCPath FMedSci is a Fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford, a constituent college of the University of Oxford, where he holds a Professorship in physiology. He has research interests in the neurological basis of dyslexia. (Source: Wikipedia)

TORBJÖRN LUNDGREN, AUTHOR (SWEDEN)

Torbjörn Lundgren, born 1949 in Stockholm, Sweden, is a Swedish author specializing in reading and writing difficulties, dyslexia, language and thinking. He is, himself, a dyslectic. His debut novel was “Demonstranterna” (the protesters) in 1988 about the Swedish anti Vietnam war movement. Since then he has written several books about dyslexia together with reports and papers for Swedish organisations and authorities. He is a frequently hired speaker and lecturer. (Source: Wikipedia)

OBJECTIVES OF THE EDA COMMUNITY SUMMER SEMINARS:

  • to provide and exchange information between stakeholders responsible for people with Dyslexia, about future strategies
  • to raise questions, perspectives and answers for the creation of a Dyslexia-friendly Europe
  • to formulate common strategies in a kind of policy guidelines
  • to raise public awareness about the situation of people with Dyslexia

The summer seminars addresses people interested in dyslexia, preferably delegates of European dyslexia associations – (EDA Members).

Admission is €100, travel and accommodation are at charge of the participants.

The 4th EDA Community Summer School was staged successfully from the 6th till 8th of June 2013, in cooperation with the University of San Marino. The EDA-Board decided to rename this event to:“EDA Summer Seminars”
